Building quality players, one session at a time
The Roy Winston Soccer Training Academy was created to address the need for proper soccer development of youth players and coaches. |

Over the next 10 years, as my coaching experience grew, I began to notice that there was a shortage of knowledgeable and skilled players at the higher levels. I directly attributed this to the lack of proper soccer training at the recreational level, which is normally their first exposure to the game. I realized that if these players were going to have a chance at success, we would need to start providing them with proper soccer training during the most crucial time for youth player development (ages 6 – 10). Around this time, I met Ivett Jeffries, a young lady from Mexico that had just as much passion for the game as I did. We worked on several joint soccer projects, as well as attended many Dallas Cups (International Youth Soccer Tournaments). We both shared the same philosophy that there was a very strong need to start youth soccer development at the earliest ages, and so, the Roy Winston Soccer Training Academy was born. Ivett JeffriesAcademy Director “Proper technique is one of the main keys to youth development” Contact Ivett Growing up in Mexico, the everyday thing to do was to play futbol(soccer). It was, is, and will always be to me, the sport that conquers all gender, social, economic, and age barriers. Everyone in Mexico has a passion for it, as it is in our blood. When I moved to the United States, I found myself wanting to play futbol to experience first hand, the sport that I grew up loving so much. My career was not long, but, my few short years of outdoor and indoor soccer continued to fuel my passion for this game. I now experience and live futbol through my dearest friend, Darryl Maddox. Our passion for the game inspired us to open the Roy Winston Soccer Training Academy, a place where our dream of proper youth futbol development can come true. My Mexican heritage and bi-lingual ability will help the academy be a place where we can bridge the gap between American and Latin players, as they are taught the skills and tactics of some of the most successful futbol countries in the world. I would love to see this country, my second home, become more competitive with some of the top futbol teams in the world. If we start teaching our youth the proper futbol fundamentals at an early age, they will be better prepared to become quality players, regardless of where they play, and also have real chance to achieve futbol success.
